Cool underground bar and restaurant in a lively location. Staff are awesome, Frankie Jose Matt and Bridget took good care of us throughout. Head Chef was hosting a party and greeted us warmly as well. Lechon kawali and calamansi wings make for great apps. The calamansi honey tea is amazing. Tokwa needs to stay in the fryer for a few more minutes. The beef for bistek and alimasag fried rice weren't particularly fresh. Perhaps the fridge broke or some ingredients were stored improperly. Ube dessert was delicious!! Good neighborhood spot to try a new spin on Filipino food favorites.

Came here for brunch post-fourth of july! been wanting to come after hearing some rave reviews. I thought the service was excellent and food good! They sat us upstairs in the window which was perfect for a Friday morning. It was a tad expensive, and I would skip the cheesy bread next time since it didn't have as much flavor as I wanted. I did try a bite of my friend's adobo bowl and although it was good, wouldn't say great. I'd come back to try their dinner menu, just would need to save up a lil bit. :)

Best Filipino American restaurant in the DC area. I have only been here twice, 1 year apart and the food was even better than I remember. Food is priced decently for the portions and quality is great, this is my personal favorite Sisig I've found at a Filipino restaurant. The Sinigang soup reminded me so much of my own mom's Sinigang and that's saying something. Mom's cooking is the best like they all say. Service here is also great as well, I was helped out by Jose and Leo who was bartending as well, they both were very personable and they also knew a lot of history about the restaurant and its origins. There is an automatic 20% service charge for table dining but the service was great so it was okay. Not sure if this is for every dine in table. They also have a small market upstairs with a few knick knacks from the Philippines which I ended up getting Filipino rum. All in all I highly recommend this place.

Outstanding. Whatever you do, this is a must visit when coming to DC. We had been tipped off by a friend to go but did not know how good this place would be. First off, give a tip of the hat to the owner/chef Patrice Cleary who stopped by our table. What a generous soul she is! And what a place she's created. No wonder it's an institution in DC. We got to try several dishes including Mama Alice's Lumpia which are fried spring rolls like no other. Almost like small cigars, they were served with banana ketchup and spicy vinegar. So good. The red snapper relleno was another standout with crab meat in a beurre blanc sauce. The fish was buttery and melt in your mouth good. And the pancit mahal, a noodle dish was a refreshing light vegetarian dish that complimented everything. Got a spicy margarita to start. Oh and service was so good too with the downstairs place being cute and comfortable. Absolutely loved this place. Not often I get filipino food and after this place, it's hard to imagine another place in the area topping them.

This place was really cool. It seemed like street parking would be difficult but I easily found several open spots. The customer service was really great. Our waitress gave us several really good options to try and was very patient with us. The food was all delicious. Our favorite was the lumpia and tofu appetizer. The tofu appetizer was slightly sweet and sour. Very good flavors and large size. The eggplant appetizer was enjoyed by my table but was too greasy for me. For dinner we tried the short ribs and they were so tender and flavorful. I wanted to lick the entire bowl. It had a slight vinegar flavor....very very good. We also tried the laing with tofu dish. The tofu was just excellent and the spinach sauce was flavorful. We got the garlic rice with both dishes and it was really good. Finally, we got the i've ice cream with bread pudding. The bread pudding was like a sticky rice and I enjoyed it and I typically don't like sticky rice. The ice cream was hard to describe but our friend described it as honey graham and we all agreed. The food and whole experience was great. The only 1/4 of a point I'd deduct is that it was very loud in there.

Purple Patch is one of my favorite spots in DC. I remember visiting for a Yelp event when they opened, and have loved it ever since. Purple Patch and I actually have the same birthday, so I have celebrated a few birthdays here, including my most recent. It's always such a fun vibe and the staff is so friendly. I had the ube pancakes, which come with lechon kawali and the Ghostface Killa to drink. I love the mix of sweet and savory. My boyfriend had the longanisa breakfast sandwich and Palawan to drink. We shared the lumpia. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic, as always. The drinks are always so good here and the presentation of both the drinks and meals is lovely. I also love the ube waffles for brunch. For dinner options, pancit and chicken adobo are my favorites and they do not disappoint. It's hard for me to not order my favorites, but I am looking forward to trying other menu options. I really enjoy Filipino cuisine and Purple Patch is one of my beloved places to visit.
